Pecos Bill Ends a Drought
They say Texas once baked so long under the sun that the land itself began to scorch. The drought grew so severe that the rivers shrank to cracks, the cattle moaned in discomfort, and even the wind seemed too tired to blow. The sight of families praying for rain was a tragic spectacle that stirred every heart. The misery was universal, and folks feared Texas would simply vanish into dust. Some began to grieve, certain the state’s glory days were gone.
