Sesson 2: Magnetic Properties

Key Idea.

Section 1

Magnetic Attraction and Materials

Key Idea

A magnet has a special force called attraction, which is a pull that brings objects closer. However, this force does not work on everything. If you put a magnet near wood, plastic, or glass, nothing happens.

Only certain materials respond to a magnet. These materials have a physical property called being magnetic. Objects that contain iron are magnetic and will be pulled toward a magnet, while other materials will stay still.
